I bought a new navara in 2002 because it could tow 3000kg. What a useless pile of crap that was. Small clutch which broke up in no time and major fight with any warranty work. Worse vehicle I ever used for towing and I feel it was due to the pram springs on the back. For towing 3500kg I want coil springs or air on the back and permanent 4 wheel drive not part time.

My dad got one of these in January. It has pulled a 3t digger on a trailer and it coped well. The love mpg reading did drop to 1.5 at some points though! Avg about 30 doing a mix of towing and driving normally. A nice truck to drive and certainly seems up to the job.

Looked at an extra-cab similar to this yesterday. Spanner in the works when I was decided on a hilux!

Would like to know what decided you on the Hilux over the Isuzu . Was there much in it ?

Decision will be final within 12 months! Only looking atm.

But hilux is a hilux; historically the most regarded pickup - so holds its value and frankly has a prestige over all the others (in most minds I suspect).

most vehicles will pull in excess of what legally can be towed but can they tow even lighter loads off road .facts speak for there self I have had various 4x4s in the past hilux being one of them and you may as well leave it at the wood side .our work vehicle atm is a discovery 300 van cant fault offroad performance and towing capabilities the other vehicle I would rate very highly was an Iveco 4x4 with very high tow weight and genuinely brilliant off road

What you are forgetting when dissing the defender is readily available parts at extremely cheap prices

I've just done the front discs, front pads and reconned the calipers for less than £100 and got the parts just up the road and all in stock

Try that on your jap motors or any other motors

True dean my navara aint that cheap, I still keep thinking of buying a 110 but do they really break down and leak oil from every where possible. ?

My Jap truck goes IN the wood every day, up racks, the lot. Your theory therefore is 80110X. My Jap truck has also breezed up a greasy slope towing a load of chip when a fully prepped 110 towing a big chipper just sat there - can dig out the pics if you want :001_tt2::laugh1:

The Jap machine doesn't need any parts in the first place.

Can you tell I think LR are crap?! :laugh1:
