Have to renew all NPTC units every 5 years

Just had a meeting with the Forestry Commission and been told that i need to re do all of my NPTC units every 5 years to continue contracting to the FC, cant believe that I am going to pay re do all of my tickets its going to cost a fortune been doing the job for 15 years now so i think i know what i am doing?

Don't think this is right. FC policy is that full time users must REFRESH every 5 years, not re-sit. BUT, doing a ticket refreshes you. So, it may be cheaper to do the assessment than to do the refresher. That is do the assessment only, not the training.

 

See other threads on this, but it appears the powers that be have decided that we are too dangerous and that refresher training will make us safer.

Very valid point. I still say that driving to work is the riskiest part of my, or anyone's, day. No mention of compulsory refresher for driving though, is there?

I did all tests after working in industry for a few years and if anything I left the college more dangerous. But as far as I understand you can have a refresher day on most tickets with a qualified instructor just breezing through it, be best to check though.

Driver CPC? Being able to to the same course, eg first aid, five times to get the card.

Going back to forestry/arb personally I think a log book idea like in construction plant would be a better way to go, you have to complete it and have signed off x hours for each category you hold. When it comes to renewal time you've got the prove of you skills and time working, an up to date h&s touch screen test and get a new 'ticket'.

Craig that is about the best solution I have heard. And also I think it is more of a standard setting course than doing all your tickets again , I believe there is no test . I am sure everyone keeps up with new practices and leglislation but there must some who dont so how do you seperate them from the rest.
