Not tried it yet, but I was told the other day a light smear of vicks vapour rub on exposed skin will deter them and also if bitten a light smear on the bite will reduce the irritation and aid healing

I normally get targetted by these horid things but so far this year not one bite the only thing I have done different is I have been taking biotin not sure if thats a b vit or not im coming to the conclusion there must be something in them they do not like as normally I would be a prime target and I know I have definately seen them hovering about and swatted a few but not bitten yet so far this year

There maybe something in the vitamin supplement theory. I used to get bitten a lot by these blighters, now I'm on extra vitamins and minerals I seem to not be getting bitten. I mowed a few hectares yesterday, horse flies were landing all over me, but not biting. I don't use Deet or anything else. Of course, it could be cos I'm ginger

I don't take any vitamin supplements, bit I do have a dirty great big ginger 'tache and straggly ginger beard to match.

I've only been stung once this year.

A strange thing I noticed: I was shearing in a big shed with no walls on two sides, and never did I see one.

As soon as I'd walk outside there'd be a squadron of them waiting for me?
