Just been reading on petzl site. They are bringing out a revised one in January 2014. Anyone in the know?

So for those that havnt returned it wounder if there is any chance of and exchange for the new one?

As someone who has worked in advertising a long time I will be interested to see how Petzl manage the relaunch ZZ and try to dig themselves out of the hole they've dug for themselves.:blushing:

Normally a relaunch is an opportunity to revive sales of an existing product by adding some new features and would be launched with some fanfare. Unfortunately Petzl don't have that luxury. So, how do you relaunch a product that had such an embarrassing start and such a short period on sale? If you big up the 'new and improved' it only revives the initial shortcomings. And you can't launch it like: 'sorry about the first one - hope this one works better'.:sneaky2:

I think it will be a quiet, low-key affair with a banner on their website stating that the Mk2 is now on sale.

How would you want it relaunched Jonesie? It must have hurt dealers like you. I'll understand if you don't answer that.:awink:

On a more positive note, I wonder when/if climbers will get prototypes to test in 'real life' work situations.

Well for jonsie its easy. On next years show.

I agree with the low key affair, just a short notice that the new zigzag is available to buy. If dealers push it that's up to them.

I can't see it flying off the shelf as quick as the first one did. Once bitten twice shy I guess.

Or they will bring it out alongside other new bits of kit.

Bit melodramatic!! I'm sure they'll 'dig' themselves out just fine, the product will do the talking, along with their existing fanbase.

I won't hesitate to buy a new one, I love them

Me too, looking forward to the relaunch :thumbup1:

Next years a while away, it will be interesting to see what alternatives are available from competitors when Petzl get around to releasing there new mechanical hitch. One way to boost the appeal is to design and rate it around SRTWP and not just DRT.

That about sums up the feedback we got when we contacted customers about the recall. We didnt manage to get our hands on alot of ZZ's but the vast majority, if not all were disappointed they had to hand them back and have asked to go on a preorder list for the next ZZ. Even the ones who didnt manage to get a ZZ are still very interested in buying the MK2.

I dont think Petzl will have any problems selling the MK2 version at all.

Sending mine back. The big question is - spend the money straight away on new shiney from Justin, or bank the cash and wait for Zigzag2 ?

Is the 'get the credit note +30%' to be spent on Petzl products from anywhere or only direct form Petzl. e.g.. really expensive (Petzl) or discounted (Jonsie, Skyland et al.)
