Comic relief, I hate it!

Personally I've never donated to comic relief/children in need/live aid. I just can't stand the list of people that turn up to do these gigs. I used to watch them from start to finish when I was younger, more for the challenge of not falling asleep. The talent is really poor.

As for the starving kids, I've never once felt any sort of guilt or sorrow. There are too many people in the world anyway. Helping them to me just makes the situation worse. I don't see the rich giving me a helping hand. Life is just your Donald Duck some have, some don't.

Triple D is on in 10 mins, Oh would that be in bad taste?

Not known for my compassion, but i wouldn't knock those who like to help out those less fortunate.

I find that very sad :(

That's a grossly unreasonable assumption you make, knowing nothing of what I may do, what with me not being in the media don't you think...? :001_huh::sneaky2:

I always find the righteous to be the most unable to consider the thoughts of others.....

:confused1:

Have you read your previous posts mate? As that contradicts them all.:laugh1:

Anyway I stand by my comment as, no offense but I believe your talking bollocks.

The other point I forgot to add was having these programs on the BBC. I feel these sort of programs would be more suited to SKY or other pay per view mediums. I'm sure they could make alot more money with adverts during the show, Similar to the money generated during the Superbowl. Would cut down on some of the woeful scetches.

I find that very sad :(

a lot of people in the UK have become desensitised to images of Africa showing hunger, drought and disease

this is probably due to over-exposure to negative news stories and charity adverts on TV with their portrayals of Africa and developing countries in other parts of the world as depressing and hopeless places, for some people it's a natural instinct to turn away from suffering when you feel you can do nothing to alleviate it

It could be argued that aid harms the countries it tries to help and should be replaced by business investment

As I said earlier, this can be argued, but its better to do something than nothing? No?

My understanding is that much of the money raised is given as loans to individuals for them to start micro businesses.

Sorry, I forgot that I'd stated I don't go into schools as an industry liaiso with teenagers, or support various small direct charities, nor are we saving up so our daughter can go to Africa next year to do community work.....

What a bizarre conclusion to arrive at based on my opinion of a tv variety show....
