1 year seasoned oak logs

Agree it will be another summer at least before it's ready to burn. I have got some oak which was felled and split spring last year (so now been down about 9 months) and which has been stacked outside but out of the weather. I checked some last week and it was still 35% MC.

On a purely cost basis I'd agree with the view that you're not getting a bargain, but not getting completely fleeced either. From a burning perspective I personally wouldn't want to be stuck with only greenish oak to burn.

I logged up quite a large Oak tree in September that had fallen off the top of a rock face about 5 years ago. Then split it all up. It was still fresh as if I had felled it that day! It's brilliant when seasoned but it really does need to be left to dry for a couple of years AFTER its been split

Cubic yards & metric tonnes? :001_rolleyes:

Many he should use cords?

Wish the uk had gone properly metric & not this mish mash of 2 unit systems all the time, that sellers like to use to confuse people.

There was stall at the local market here selling veg by the lbs which I thought was illegal nowadays?

His woodland looks nicely managed though but the website is confusing. :001_smile:

I bloody hate oak. Nothing takes longer to dry and frankly, I don't think that it's worth the wait. Give me sycamore/elm/lime/any softwood any day.

Oak sulks on the fire, and needs nursing like a sick child.

hate oak too,got some stems been down 10 yrs +,bet if i ringed it up now it would still be sopping
