8mm hole in near the top left of the exhaust..photo bucket quality is crap so its hard to make out.

I timed one second off the cut on a 5" peice of wood with the mod.. The saw breaths so much better !! its really stuffed up standard , you can see the deposits the exhaust was building up it discharged from the new exit hole as well.

I think there just as badly made as the 201's I bought 1 used it twice and it broke !!! Handel snapped at the carb! Sthil have gone to pot with there new saws

I did this too mate, thanks for the pic, made a lot of difference to how the saw runs.

No worries mate , I have to admit this saw grows on you and you end up thinking you could not be with out it. It's just so perfect for what would be silky or lopper work and saves so much time, not to bad in larger stuff either.

What's the best way to get it oiling correctly? I've had mine about a week and it not been used much, but it still only oils about 50% of the time!

 

Also, once you've drilled your hole in the exhaust has it started to melt the plastic cover?

Mine seems to have sorted its self out with the oiling issues it first hand... Weird!!

Fingers crossed then Matty. It is a grand little saw, just a pain with the constant cleaning...and to be honest, when I clean it it doesn't really look mucky and blocked!

 

Amazingly tempted to get the drill out but it's probably a bit too soon. It did make a massive difference to my 200t though!

love this little saw and its well earnt its money and to be fair av properly used it above and beyond choged down some pretty big stuff with it with no complaints yet had about 15 20 takes of juice in it

Had mine 2 weeks, oil pump has had to be replaced under warranty, spoke to another dealer in local area and they have had two brought back in for oil pump replacement too. Oiler aside, I love the saw, still early days though, I do fear what lies in wait further down the line with modern saws.

Aspen run from the start, no problems what so ever, so far has done 20+ tanks a couple of sharpens still running the sAme a nice light saw for pruning, or to push it to takedowns lol
