Had nothing but problems with the works one, pig to start, keeps cutting out on tick over, head occasionally swivels

That's coz the air filter will be blocked most likely, they get soaked in Oli or fuel and dirt and don't tick over, clean it out and tighten the head. That's no reason to call it crap mate.:)

I use a Stihl Kombi with a 1m carbon pole, it has the saw attachment and angle head hedge trimmers, brilliant bit of kit. Mine is the KM130R, light and has enough power for my needs. Mainly a lot of low level lopping branches or trimming hedges. If you buy second hand check the gearing on the kombi attachments they need lubing on a fairly regular basis

I also recently invested in a Wolf Garten Pole pruner with lopper and saw heads, reaches upto 4 m and again for me is a brilliant bit of kit that saves me getting the ladders out and using the Silky.

Nah air filter is clean, it's either carb or the valves, they don't pay me enough to tweak the carb, and I don't know enough bout timing to touch that, I prefer the older stihl stuff, before they choked the power with emissions laws, but over all I prefer a silky on a stick, cuts just as fast if you know how

I grease my combi heads etc but are you meant to maintain anything in the shaft itself? :blushing:
