L200 is about the best for your needs. I have the 2003 older model, I only do about 3000 mpy so your milage is fine. I also have family, the twin cab is great aswell as the space in the rear. I had a 4 ton winch fitted to the front end with tow bar as well as a rear tow bar. The engine is very powerfull and great in 4 wheel drive snow/off road etc. If using in very muddy conditions I would advise using big mud tyres. The L200 is a very well made quality machine-I would get it NOW...regards Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.

Hi mate,

Just bought a 2005 L200 Club cab with 96k on. It's a 2 door but with 4 decent seats as it's used for work and Dad's taxi!!! It's ex Environment Agency with service history as long as the Old Testament - very detailed so I'm well chuffed. Got BFG all terrains and really does go anywhere loaded and unloaded.

The turning circle isn't brilliant but it is a working vehicle that earns good money so no worries there. Fuel economy is 32 mpg generally if you stay off the turbo as much as poss and better on a run. Imo it's perfect for my work/family purposes but it's horses for courses. Can't beat a Land Rover off road and for pulling power but they don't suit my needs for a family/work all rounder, wish I'd bought one years ago.

Cheers Jose,

Jamie

That's exceptional mpg; 25 here on a good day (might scrape 30 on the m-way at 60 mph) and sub 20 when towing. As others have said; likes a drink but has been so reliable.

My L200 is a pentioner lol 1996 single cab with mechanical injector pump!! 168k and still going strong. I think vehicle longevity might have something to do with regular maintenance and the operator!! It's not hard to burn clutches and pull back axels out when towing if your a rough operator and i don't care wether it's a Mitsi Ford Mazda Toyota Landrover and the list goes on and on and on!! My parent's have a 54 warrior with just 50k on it and it's hanging off the road. Because my dad is a rough operator and couldn't drive sheep or geese to put it bluntly.

Know what your buying and look after it, it'll serve you well!!!!

Hi all

Looking to get a 4x4 ( tax purposes and also access to field to do logs).

Need a double cab as i need it to lug the kids around too.

I have seen a very clean looking 2005 l200. 24000k full service history and 1 owner, but the dealer wants £6995 for it.

Now i know that the trucks seem to be holding there value a bit not sure about 7K.

Also the main thing i wanted to ask is would you be scared off so to speak by the low mileage? thats about 3k a year. I am sure i have heard before that too little mileage is worse than to high.

Not too keen on the new shape trucks tbh and i plan to do smaller log deliveries so not wanting to spend a fortune on a truck and then chuck logs at it.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

(Oh and it must be black as is my company colour:001_smile: )

Hi. Did you sort a truck. The L200 you're looking at is ok. Most people i know who drive pickups have owned at least one. I had a single cab for 5 years and it never let me down. Oil changes are every 4500 miles, fuel economy is average. You'll never get over 30mpg and if you tow it'll dip to nearer 20. Its also slow compared to equiv year navara's. That said its a great looking truck with all the toys and you won't be disapponited. Good luck.
