Don't worry about MPG, you can't really or you'll never buy anything. My LDV wasn't too bad, my berlingo was REALLY good and now I've got a land rover and compared to the other 2 I've had. It's shocking but I don't get hung up on it, when it gets low, just put more juice in ;-)

You're buying something that will earn you more money and If it costs you a bit more in diesel so be it, you won't get a tipper doing over 30 mpg balls deep everyday in chip and logs, it won't happen. Un loaded you've more chance but you're hoping it won't be un loaded for long haha

You take the plunge and buy one. Then put it to work, happy days

Exactly... your not going to see 30mpg loaded and towing. Dont be tight be realistic... charge enough.

Please dont comeback about fuel prices lol because they are bad!

Get yourself a renault master tipper, great truck its cost me very little in maintenance over the last couple of years and does over 30 mpg, has the 2.8 iveco engine so plenty power, its front wheel drive that some hate but I've never found it to be a problem.

nice set up, but 4wd would be very handy for logs

Your better off with an old truck that does 20 mpg and never misses a beat. Rather than a new electronic 150 bhp 34mpg plastic bling machine that needs £2000 a year to screw it back together

true, will look for a tidy hilux

I don't do firewood, but if I need a 4x4 I take the hilux or unimog, you will find it very difficult to get one vehicle to do everything, you are going to have to prioritise what you require to undertake the higher percentage of your workload then buy a vehicle that fulfills that.
