Haha, yes had that one many times.

Had an even better one a few weeks ago, we were reducing a huge Leylandi hedge round a factory, I was atop the hedge at the rear of one of the properties that backed onto the hedge, an Asian lady came out, pointed at her hedge that ran from the hedge we were cutting up the side of her garden between her and her neighbour and said "are you not cutting those??" :001_huh:

Quite an insulting one from a few years back when I worked for someone else, out at a job in the big mog and a neighbour comes over and asked if we do scrap removal as well as he had some old fridges he wanted rid of?

Yesterday I had "we don't normally like cutting down trees...but" wish I had a tenner for every time I've heard that one!

From Tues. .. "the other bloke said the logs were worth £40, can you knock that off your quote?" ...er how about NO!!

"How did your rope get up there?"

"I bet you get good money from the council for all that woodchip"

"I'd like you to lay this hedge for me. We want it to keep the sheep in" (hedge was lawsons cypress!)

"How much will you pay me to fell the tree, the timbers worth a fortune you know" (tree was Scots pine)

"I didn't realise you were going to actually climb the tree"

All the usual classics no doubt!

I'm so jaded now that when a customer says "I don't like cutting down trees but..."

I say "I do, I hate trees and would cut them down for nothing"

Or when a client says when standing under some massive tree over power lines, roofs etc,

"I'd do it myself but the wife won't let me/back is bad/blah blah blah" because they think that'll get the price down, like its mowing the lawn or something.
