Some tree surgery companies don't do firewood and are pleased to let people take logs from site as long as they keep out the way or even drop loads locally for a drink.

Yes I know and that's fair enough good luck with your hunt .

Many thanks:thumbup:

Your best approach may be to email local tree surgeons, let them know your situation and let them drop some off for a drink, you never know they may be doing a job locally and need to unload quickly to get it done in time.

Bearing in mind you will need some where dry and airy to season and store it. Can't just burn it green .

Not doing me a favour. I tell all log rats to do one. I take all timber from jobs to our yard to process into logs to sell.

I would be careful how you tell people to do one. I offered money to a tree worker at the end of our road who was involved with a big road construction. He became aggressive and violent as I was explaining I was happy to pay for use within my business. After his visit to minor injuries unit and some butter fly stiches we got on much better and now buy any wood he has spare, the start of a beautiful friendship.
