When I worked for Halifax council we had a lane closure for a dead elm, fellow stopped in his car, blocking everyone behind and demanded to know what we were felling that tree.

When informed we were council employees, he still demanded to know who gave us consent and why we were felling "that perfectly good tree"

 

"It's dead!" he was told.

 

"How do you know?"

 

"Cos it's got no leaves on and it's summer, now move you're .......... car!!!"

Had it with a multi steemed birch that snapped out a trunk, next door neighbour asked why are you doing it its i good health after segueing for a while I said with respect it wasn't your shed it fell on.

 

He then replied with the classic why do you do this job is it for the kicks. I said no everyone has to eat don't they! And started the saw and carried on.

we got repremanded a few years back, for telling someone the trees we were felling on the disused railway sidings were being cleared so they could store some flasks containing nuclear by products.
