Brillant machines we have a 150dhb and a 150 vtr such reliable machines we had an old entec which went up to 8,000 hours and still sold for near 3k. You look after it and it will serve you well.

You say towing restrictions - why not just get your b+e licence? Costs around £300 all in. So much more choice for chippers and trailers.

 

Just doing two of my lads and the cheapest I can get is £560. Who does it for £300?.

Dvla test is £115, box trailer hire was £40 for the morning of the test . Training with local instructor for 6 hours ish was around £150 (using our own vehicle / trailer )

 

Can't see how it would cost £250 more than that!!

Really disappointing capacity per hour, some jobs a little baby chipper just can't keep up.

 

The old ones, possibly the new ones too, have an annoying habit of pushing curved branches down and getting the butt end stuck behind the anvil

 

In comparison to what ??a 10" chipper? 150 has one of the highest out puts in its class.

If a branch gets stuck , just chuck in a bigger log and it comes out straight away .. Simple.

I run a 150 on paper its ment to chip 4 ton/ hour have never managed it even with two men feeding it. All so got a 18/100 it chips straight timber quick than the 150.

I have had 2, I have a 150 VTR and I love it. Easy to service and easy to change blades, also they hold there value well.

Got a 150 love it munched its way through 1otonne + of blackthorn yesterday just hate doing a blade change on them make sure you change the bolts every change and you will be fine.

 

I've always cleaned the bolt heads out with a fine pick and some WD40, does the trick.

You're right Dan, there are some great bigger chippers at reasonable prices but..I have had a bigger chipper and there is the issues of moving them around by hand and towing behind a Transit size vehicle. (weight wise)

An eight inch chipper might suit you, but it would be too big and too heavy for a lot of people. I'd struggle to get over these Yorkshire hills with something like that on the back and a load of chips. I love my old entec. It's a 2001 machine and chips great all day, with very little trouble. No plans to change it.
