Is that a lump of burr above you in picture one.

The lump of burr on trunk looks a good size.

just canker im afraid, we have a very burry trunk to take down in the same area although there's a good chance its hollow

took two loads, might have been two and a half but our PTO chipper is out of action so quite a bit of stuff that we would normally chip wasn't , it had dutch elm disease

Hired in a hedge flailing contractor to help us on a job ripping out loads of shrubs. What we got done today with this is easily best part of a week cutting and chipping. Made a right mess but did a good job! No windows were harmed in the making of this post

 

Upside is I found a tenner in one of the shrub beds. Winner!

That was about 5% of the total beds on this job. The flail was used to see how it does. Will be getting it again this week. They don't take long to cut and clear but the flail would cut and mulch them a lot quicker.
