Nice windblown eucalyptus today, 1 load of chip, 2 trailer loads of logs.

What wasn't so nice was the drag, down steps, under arches, round sheds😅😅

The tracked dumper being worth it's weight in gold again, taking the logs to the trailers that couldn't get within 50 yards of the job👌👌

A mate is scrapping an old ocean-going tug and I took the forestry winch to help him get it to a slipway today - it was a nice change from the norm!

(I don’t know what the boat weighs and scale in the vid is hard to guage, but the crankshaft weighed 5.5 tonnes when he pulled the engine out to get the hull sitting higher in the water!…)

3 hours ago, Stere said:

Why bother with stump removal in what looks like a livestock field?

It's beside the driveway to a big country house Stere, they had several trees down in the storms and want it "tidy".

They've kept some chip and cord for logs, and a bit of Turkey Oak to mill for garden furniture, but all the big stuff removed. The stumps are staying where they are so we winched the rootplate back into it's hole.

Wee story:

No mentioning the clients name. Wee tree job ongoing. 'I'll be there when I can, when the rain & gales stop. Turns out that was today, admittedly a month later. Was there all afternoon taming & shaping, crown reducing, yapping with a little old lady neighbour with Indy. Left my Arb ladder against his kitchen window rather than cart saws, pole saws, fuel, the whole lot the feck back.
My brain: Client will come home, see tree newness happening, see Arb ladder, put 2 & 2 together.Clients brain: Ladder at my kitchen window. Obviously burglars trying to break in. Neighbours. Yeah call the police. I am calling the police. Take the burglar ladder inside so they can't do burglary stuff. Client steals my ladder & stores it inside his house. Locks house. Bwahah yer fooked now.
Me messaging a few hours later. Hi, you may have noticed I've made a start on reducing your trees & reshaping them. Left my Arb ladder at the back of your house, feel free to lay it flat..draws less attention to potential burglars that way.

Umm, about that...

🤣😆
