Its been bugging me - I took the back limbs off carefully - didn't want to rock that tree!!! and didn't want to take too much off the back incase it collapsed - glad its over

What sort of felling cut is that? and whats the reason for using it please?

I know it as a tongue and groove but I may be wrong. It was originally used to keep hillside trees on the stump. The forester who showed it to me used it as a bench to lay other trees onto to keep them at a comfortable snedding height.

 

I had no use for it in this situation but fancied giving it a razz
