Ash is a bastard of a tree when it’s compromised, and I predict a lot of climbers will die when chalara takes hold.

Terrifying but true :(

The industry needs to educate climbers to minimise loading on these compromised trees.

On the Ash topic...

Job doesn’t even start til Weds but I’m sick of it already!

Had an hour with the client’s neighbour today explaining the Justification for the Ash take down which straddles their boundary.

A real headbanging experience!

So I ran out of time yesterday so went in today to finish up and I never envisaged the amount of grindings. IMG_20190820_164556.jpegIMG_20190820_185424_284.jpegIMG_20190820_174439.jpeg

Looks like poplar, fluffs up to create a pile like that. Especially if you have to chase out roots.

Go on then Ian, What you going to do with all that? lol
I'm planning on ignoring it as it was a freebie favour that someone called in. [emoji23] I expect I'll end up taking the skid steer to load it up and I'll take it in the woods and level it out, or tip it off as a wildlife pile. [emoji6]

Yeah they were 2 white poplar stumps, only had to chase a few out as they had used a digger to rip out the roots in the pitches, shame they didn't rip these out at the same time.

Access was shocking so we had a crane day. The tree had a phone line on one side and I just did light picks because it was easier. The heaviest bit was the stem at only 2.7t (we had 4t at that reach) but 90% were sub 600kgs.
