Spent all day fishing a 70ft ivy infested fallen alder from a stagnant drink, ran into numerous problems including 2 snapped winch cables and the obligatory jammed saw on a couple occasions

Just wondered how you went about it? Base tie or top anchor? Etc..

How come it finally "clicked" ?

 

top ties, and several redirects at one point.

 

Not really a case of it 'clicking', I understood it from the start, I just don't happen to think its a good system in general. For this tree though it worked. Probably would have done it just as quick with Ddrt though still
