What do you reckon your capacity is compared to a single cab Tranny, Hodge?

 

We run them as they're a pretty safe bet, but I'd love to have a Landy like that!

 

It's not until you see your climber in the tree that you realise the scale of it. Subby or employed?

 

 

I think it's about 4 cube, I used to have a transit LWB tipper and that could get a heck of a lot of chip in but would be way overweight. The climber is a contract climber, Ollie Bennett, very experienced and competent.

Seems healthy enough so maybe not. Probably going to recommend bracing over the road and that's it.

Didn't see a problem with the tree when we did it 4 years ago just tip pruned to give clearance to building and deadwood which there was quite a lot of as it had not been touched since construction.

Tree Officer at time was quite protective of the tree as it's quite a prominent one in Dereham and Tpo/ conservation area.

I've never been a fan of bracing would preference pruning to reduce weight leverage.

I assume the middle was already cleared out when you did it? To do the tips over the road would ruin it's shape so bracing seems the logical choice.

Today limited reduction, under the supervision of the tree officer, I was taking about 1m maximum just to retain its shape. (Although IMO it almost looks exactly the same... However 1/2 ton of chip and 3hrs later.

 

The goal was to inspect damage from the Christmas lights and the lightning strike area.

Nice tree, nice place. Was it a oak tree Ian?. About 9 out 10 lightning tree strikes i've seen have been Oaks.

Yeah, lovely oak, nearly annoying to climb. An old boy was telling us it blocked the road for a whole day.

Beech we took down to 25ft last year, customer was going to have it carved but changed mind so out it comes. Was going to be milled but didn't realise extent of decay until it was on the deck
