The helmet does have vents, the rear section of the helmet slides up and down to either close or open the vents.

are the vents as large as the petzl helmets?

The vents on the petzl are similar to a bike helmet but on a bike you are travelling along with the wind rushing through the vents where as the protos is designed to increase air flow from the bottom to the top by the heat escaping at the very top drawing in cooler air.
