If it's a retrofitted 3.9 or larger EFI V8 then it could be worth it, will have plenty more grunt than an equivelant TDI. However if it's an originally fitted V8 it'll be a 3.5 carbed version which doesn't have much more power than a TDI and less than the TD5 so definitely not worth the extra fuel consumption, unless you really like the noise!

Think they stopped fitting the V8 to them in 1989 (when they stopped being the 90/100 and started being branded 'Defender') so anything newer than that has had an engine change or is a limited edition.

Anyone running a V8 defender as a work truck?

I have seen a 110 hicap V8 with LPG and am considering it.

With LPG I think I should get 20-25mpg?

What are they like for towing compared with say a TDI?

I used to, low compression model, ran at best 19mpg on petrol and 14 on lpg, range on lpg was 150 miles.

Mine would be pants compared with a tdi as it only had about 110bhp but it was adequate and much lower engine service costs I did about 60k miles in it.

I've just bought a Td5 110 tipper, the oil pressure switch is not working due to the wires being pulled out after the clutch was changed (prior to me buying it). I've looked for the wires but can't find them. Does anyone know where they could be please.

Cheers

Hi scale well cash only sale is it thanks Jon
