i agree, this is way over the top considering he didn't actually harm himself or anyone one, im with genset steve, they should have enforced him in a more constructive manner ie tickets before fining him like this. Neighbour was a grass but then it is irritating to see cowboys at work and he wasn't the one who gave the fine.

The HSE can issue an improvement notice for minor infringements but now and again they make a statement and it's working, the arb world is chatting this up a storm, the guy on the sharp end of the stick was unlucky.

Wonder how it feels to be a snitch like that chainsaw assessor? a curtain twitching snitch at that. All sneaky like, crouching around the house on his hands an knees, taking photos and phoning the Health and Safety Executive. Freak. What's wrong with these people?

You could understand it if the guy next door was about the fell an 80ft Beech onto a primary school full of kids, but the guy up the tree was just some subnut doing what subnuts do. These clowns exist for our benefit, the sole reason for their existence is to show them to our kids and say, 'see that person son, that's a complete idiot, dont be like that'.....'ok dad'. You dont go grassing them up to the police or HSE for christ's sake.

The HSE dont have the monopoly on health and safety, it's a state of mind, you either got or you dont, the guy up the tree didn't have it, but that doesn't mean he should be fined £4000 for what is a relatively minor infringment.

So they've taken 6k off a, probably, decent working bloke. Was he endangering anyone except himself? OK he should have been ensuring his safety but I think a telling off from HSE should have been sufficient along with him taking relevant courses.

As for the NPTC snitch next door...well he should be ashamed of himself. Why didn't he just offer some constructive advice!

Sour grapes because he didnt get the job, and the reason he didnt get the job is because he,s probably a knob

Well I dont know what you expected the neighbour to do, it's not like he had any sort of authority to stop the chap.

Have you now heard of talking? Just pointing out the error of his ways may have been enough to put an end to it. You don't need any sort of authority to do that, do you?

can someone please tell me what actual law did this guy break? as far as I can find out all the HSE guidlines are advisory, not actually compulsory, backed by legislation passed by an act of parliment, the guy should declare his company bankrupt, and resart under a different name, seems to work for all the big "tory" backed ones

whether i agree with this or not.

It does show that unlike the general feeling on other threads that the EMPLOYER does need to be qualified and work within industry guidelines.

Certainly some have always believed as the business owner or employer they were exempt.

How many other threads have bleated on about system like the corgi sysyem well again if the hse took everyone to court that were reported it would certainly be a big step towards that and allow us to actually charge what would be fairer.

I certainly have spent more than 6k on PPE in my time never mind how much more than that on training.

At least he did not hurt himself and I do wonder if he talked to the guy before reporting him.

Certainly I would like to think i would talk to them and only consider other options if he was a shall we say non receptive to any constructive advice:blushing:,

p.s seen a few and reported none but i have had a few interesting conversations:confused1:
