What do you do with your woodchip?

 

There is plenty of talk about logs but what about the chip? What do you see as being the most econimical route of disposal of this waste or do you see this as a cash crop product?

 

Personally for the last 2 years I have been storing it in my yard and calling Stobarts in to remove it. Payment for the chip has been covering the cost of loading but not much more and it generally means a missed hour or two of work to sort the loading. Before this I had a deal with a farmer who would dispose of the chip in exchange for as many logs as he could personally use. The odd load goes to allotments for a few quid but not much and it tends to be a pain in the rear end.

I give it to the farmer where I keep my machinery, he uses it for cattle. Iv only once managed to sell a load ( for £40) To be honest the customer usually keeps it especially if i offer a small discount- very small mind!

I get rid that day, to anyone that will have it

I give all my chip to my neighbour (farmer) he uses some for bedding and sells some to landscapers, if I get enquires for chip I give them his number.

flog it mi sen get £40 a ton =£10 a bag ,they supply the bags ,30,mins to do 20 bags on mi own

decent hardwood chip goes to the yard, and gets sold for £40.00 a load/used for mulching new planting. The rest goes to a polo yard across the road to use on their 1mile long riding track

I give it away to allotments, golf courses, peoples gardens and a few farms and private estates. I also stock pile some at the yard and sell that.

All goes on our yard. It's fine gravel and road platings so not good to sell. Will probably stick it at the bottom of the field to do its thing till its gone!

Ours go to a local allotments (mulch/weed supressant) and the Broads Authority (for use on wet/muddy pathways).

I sell mine to Indian call centres for £18000 per Transit load.
