you brought up faulty climbing gear, not me.

The bill is not the result of driving it with the head blow.

Do you actually read all my posts? As you seem to be having real difficulty understanding the situation??

Do you really need to shout all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey mate, wind your neck in. You dont know Dave, or anything about him. He's suffered a serious setback, and you come on here calling him stupid?

Your comments are not in any way 'advice' or 'helpfull' or even positive. Just a bunch of insults.

You might have more experience (although I very much doubt it) but you clearly have no manners, and your people skills are nearly as good as your spelling and punctuation. Wise up.

Using neat fuel in a saw CREATES the damage!!!

I am going to try to explain, AGAIN, in very simple terms that trying to drive it to their work shop, did NOT incur additional damage.

The engine was worn, from 5 years off hard labour!!, NOT caused by blown head or driving with blown head.

The only damage caused by driving with the head blown was 1 bent con rod.

The cost of recovery will be far more than the cost of a con rod so worth a try, in my book.

My age if in my profile.

You seem to have got all worked up over MY situation??

As for my experience or lack of it, of what business is it of yours?

I'm just glad that this "BOY" has enough "experience" to have bought and paid for his mog, chipper, trailer, etc and have the money in the bank to cover the repairs.

Jees somebody is lacking any Christmass cheer !

Hope it is back on the road before Christmass for you Dave.

FWIW I suffered excactly the same prediciment, the advice was the same, don't turn it off, drive carefully and keep the water topped up.

I was however a good deal further from my yard than Dave on a busy dual carriageway so I had it recovered at great cost...........

I have never found anti-freeze to be expensive, but is often overlooked causing engines to overheat rapidly and to have very high internal pressures if run like that which can crack blocks or easily damage head gaskets or twist-off water pump impellors (the mog water pump has a slip clutch so it doesn’t do this if it freezes but the clutch only has a short life-span)

From Saturday to Wednesday it never got above freezing hear for any length of time & puddles of water have been frozen all week until yesterday.

Dave

You know where to go and who to speak to next time you have a problem, don't go to the experts, post the symptoms on this forum and follow the condescending advice you are given.

Don't expect to save any money or get your machine sorted though.

The main of us know what you were doing and why you were doing it and we would have done the same.

Good luck with the repairs.

:confused1: It had good quality antifreeze in it!

The engine had overheated a couple of years ago, when the compressor belt snapped and took out the fan belt, this may have weakened the gasket?
