If you watch it on 1080 HD on a big screen from 0.16 it looks like he has a flipline round the stem he is cutting? As the piece hits the deck the flipline can be seen whipping round on the ground?

Does anyone actually have the proper explanation as to how this happened?

I can't see a flip line, but having watched it a gain it looks like this main line is hooked over a peg on the back the lump he's felling, as it falls his line moves forward and he goes up.

If my info is correct, his rope got snagged on a stub. Looks nasty and a good reminder that there's always the possibility of something going wrong. Hope you get fixed up soon.

His Rope might have gotten snagged in the ridgy Bark that Pinus Radiata have?Or a stub?

Yep, something like that, can see it now, it went too early catching him and his line by surprise.

pause/play a couple of times round about 0.23/0.24 there is a flipline whipping round but wether it was attached or not is hard to say, seriously doubt it was attached.

From 15secs on you can see his main line moving with the piece.

Loved the first vid Matt, hated the second!

Give him a big up from the Arbtalk Massive, we hope he's healing ok.

Get him on here to talk us through it as well.

We hear about deaths and bad accidents on here too frequently, but noone ever gets to hear what really happened - 'an inquest will be held' etc.

I'm not being morbid, but if I died at work for whatever reason I'd want my tree brothers to know how, so they could avoid it.

He must be a Hardman to survive that!
