Had the pilot done jobs like this before, or on a regular basis? I would imagine its a pretty delicate job, and must have taken skill from both parties to do it with a 20 minute turnaround.

 

Also, i assume you wore some sort of radio. A stein PTT thing maybe? :P

 

Pilot has done quite a few tree removals, it was a 20 sec turnaround not 20mins!! No stein ptt thingy, just eye contact with dogman on ground he just pointed up for a smaller piece and down for a larger piece when you started the cut.

Looked like a day to remember. I did a day a couple of years ago for Mick Stockbridge out in Kent. The RAF were practicing manoeuvres with a Chinook chopper. Touching down for about 45 second in a field next to the site I was in. They then took off again and the down wash from the rather large 2 sets or rotor blades was pretty noticable.

 

I did gesture, and it would have been great if they could have picked a couple of lumps of poplar somewhere and accidentally lost it. Alas, they didn't help us out.
