Never pay to tip chip. Said in another post that we often let it break down for few months then sell it on to customers as mulch. Quite often we'll speak to the customer we're working for and explain the benefit of keeping the chip for weed suppression, in which case we leave the chip behind. They often end up asking for more a year down the line.

At my old job we tipped it on a farmers land and when he had enough to stick in an artic trailer, he would sell it to the bio power station.

At the moment our chip goers to a pig farmer.

Our local green waste rip off recycling centre £55 + vat for a full transit load, the others not so local are £25 and £20 for chip £40 for unchipped green waste .

 

We rarely pay though by using allotments stables etc

i pay 5 pound a truck load of chips to get rid of when cant find anyone who wants them or the rubbish stuff thats full of leaf or laylandi chipped up

Thats the good stuff as has a more balanced C:N ratio for mulching/composting.

 

Less good for burning though I suppose
