Transit tipper insurance

Hiya all,

Im having a mare getting a reasonable premium for a 2.5 single cab Transit tipper. Cheapest Ive found through price comparison sites is £2,100!! for just myself fully comp, 250 excess and breakdown.

Im 29, no convictions, 3 years no claims with a domestic car. This is my first time with commercial van insurance. I have two very small incidents recorded from last year which I admitted fault (first I clipped a parked car- no damage, no action taken and second a pedestrian ran in front of my at a petrol forecourt- her fault but I was told to admit fault by AXA as apparently Id have no leg to stand on if it went to court, but it didnt, she was unhurt and nothing came of it). Both of these have put around £800 on my quoted premium!

I am looking in the wrong place or do I just bite the bullet and pay up?

Any advice/ recommended insurers much appreciated

Rob

Tut tut tut, all looking for the cheapest price, your just devaluing the insurance industry!!!

How will those poor insurance people be able to feed their kids.

:001_tongue:

Im insured with first quote and they seem quite reasonable but tbh I think it all depends on the colour of the sky and what shoes the salesman is wearing when you ask for a quote.

Best thing is to just keep calling loads of different firms.

Also if you can get someone else on the policy who is less of a risk it will help ie mum, dad, wife etc. I put my mrs on my car insurance and it went down even though I had been driving 10 years longer than her and I had full no claims with no accidents or points etc, etc.

She passed her test 5 years ago and hasnt driven since, wonder who the biggest risk would be!?:sneaky2:

Biggest load of thieves on the planet imo.

Good luck and hope you get a sensible quote:thumbup1:

Just been through the same situation this morning, firstly I would forget comparison sites as most of them will quote you but I found when I rang them up they said they didn't cover tippers :confused1:

I ended up going through Express insurance, who I was with before when I had a panel van, the company providing the insurance is highway and they specialise in tippers. I'm older than you 31 and have no claims just an sp50 speeding fine from 4 years ago,( wifes car:blushing:) they quoted me £800 fully comp and that was the best I'd had, like you I was getting quotes of £1500-£2000.

Good Luck:thumbup1:
