ed, it sounds like you're talking about the m65 which is a good phone until the little doodad holding the metal frame on goes and then their pure hell to live with. I now have a m110 solid and have no complaints apart from the reception on them isn't quite as good as on the m65.

I have a JCB tough phone, Basic but has blue tooth and so far has lasted well

I've got one of these bad boys. like a jcb phone but with the camera/mp3-4 player/record phone calls, etc...

 

so far so good, although texting isn't up to nokias standards.

I keep my mobile phone in a zipped bag that either fits on my belt loop or my climbing harness. Got it in France but its brilliant. keeps the phone clean and dry and less likelihood of falling on the leg pocket.
