Charges for use of vehicle

Hi all,

 

Tomorrow i'm subbing into a company i usually do work for, but they want to use my vehicle tomorrow as i think another team is going else where...

 

anyhow ontop of my usual day rate, what do i charge for use of my vehicle? this will include carrying loads and towing chipper etc.... 60 mile's ish distance.

 

Put 20.00 in to cover diesel but what to charge for vehicle?

 

any thoughts?

If you don't have Hire or Reward on your policy then charging for use of your vehicle will invalidate your insurance. Make sure your invoice does not mention a value for its use.

I run an 02 crewcab transit, and from this years accounts it's prob costing close to 70p a mile to run. Towing and full loads are very hard on everything, not just fuel. Hard to say for a figure, as i'm sure you don't want to stick the arm in, but you don't want to end up with less than if you turned up and met on site as normal. I too have this exact problem!

if they give you plenty of work might be worth getting fuel payed for if its a one off

charge them too much and they might find someone else for the work

is it just local work or travling to barnsley etc , if its a long haul the daily will sup juice loaded & we i chipper on it ,

just ask how much ther going to offer ,

i pay 50 quid for a tranny tipper for a day. or 40 quid if it comes with the climber who owns in on top of his day rate. i think thats fair - any more and I'd think you were trying it on.

I do get some work off the company yes, but theyre quiet at the moment so hit and miss.

 

I've spend 101.00 on the truck this morning just on parts, fitted a new timing belt kit and aux belt myself... so wear and tear is always an issue with everything, i have to pay to maintain the truck so will have to charge for its use.

At least a £1.00 per mile.

£50+ fuel. That's what my tipper usually is on top of my climbing rate. If local then no fuel charge.

£50 + fuel would be about right, but we all know it's not enough.
