Slow cooker:thumbup1:

Loads of stuff you can chuck in in the morning and it's like someone else cooked the dinner for you when you come in great at this time of year .

Do a big lump of brisket in the s c the just roast it off for 20 mins have some that night then slice some off into some nice gravy with onions put it in a food flask and hot beef butties for lunch this is a favourite of o h along with gammon done the same:thumbup:

Your mates eating their cheese butties wil soon fall out with you though:laugh1:

Yup, but you can eat it cold or recook it, it's when you rewarm the rice you get poisoned.

 

To Pedro, how do you think the fried rice was made in the first place?

 

Most of the time fried rice is just reheated boiled rice. I think the fast food industry would have fallen on its butt if everyone who ate reheated rice got ill.

 

Rice is fine reheated, provided you dont just warm it. Yes the bacteria can be released if not heated correctly.

 

In fact it is good practice if you like that type of take away and your stools to be solid, to reheat the fried rice in a Microwave to piping levels before you eat it.

Batch cooking is the way to go. We did huge pots of chicken stew, bologneise sauce, chilli etc when my wife was pregnant with both children. A 500g margarine tub full will serve two adults, so all portioned up and frozen. Out of the freezer before heading to work in the morning, then at the end of the day just cook a bit of rice, pasta or a jacket spud. Plus, it's a good way to save on electricity, which always helps. :thumbup1:

Very true Rich, to make fried rice you need cooked but cold rice. They normally cook it the day before its served.

 

i make my own fired rice, boil rice first, then cool it down under a tap, put in fridge for half hour then wack in a steaming hot pan with couple of eggs :)
