2-Stroke mix in chain oil catastrophe.

My mate (honest) accidentally put a fuel mix into the chain lube tank of our little MS170 that we keep by the chipper. I didn't think it would be too much of a drama so I flushed it all out and cleaned it all up but its still smoking like a bad un. Any ideas about how to fix this or is it a full strip down?

don't see why it should be a problem, I would just run with it for a while, aslong as its still oiling the bar it won't be doing any damage and eventually it will flush through. Good thing it wasn't the other way round:001_smile:

should be fine ? better than putting chain oil where the 2 stroke should go ? unless thats what youve done (smoking like a goodun') but even i dont think it would be too bad, probs just put a new plug in once it clears up ?

Need a bit of clarification - the numpty put the fuel mix in the bar oil tank - did he put bar oil in the fuel tank and it is the burning off of the bar oil that is making the engine smoke or is the fuel making the bar smoke?

 

As long as the fuel contains a 50:1 mix fuel/two stroke oil mix, you should be OK and the smoke will stop soon.

The gas won't hurt it .Even if the gas tank got oiled it won't hurt it .

I once did this and tried to catch it as it came off, not good for the hand.

So is that why in 14 years of cutting i have never done any of those things?
