I have used Stihl hand held blowers for years and been pleased with the performance, but decided 2 months ago to go for the big one, the Stihl 600 4 stroke back pack, and boy does it save some time on a big job with a lot of cleaning up, I would say it saves 1 hour. you do need the room to carry it but now I have bought it I love it. Still take the small one out as well as its useful for getting in the tight spaces.

Do you not find the backpacks a bit numb? by the time you have it started and then get it on your back you can be half way through with a hand held and as for the storage there a right pain but yes i agree there a powerful bit of kit.

Totally; fine if you're in for the long blow but too fiddly to get on in end of day clearup hurry.

Time taken to start the backpack blower and get it on??? Do what??!! Crikey, couple of tugs on the cord, sling it on yer back..... wow, all of a few seconds! Then blow away with heaps more speed than a handheld to get the job done twice as quick. You're a funny bunch, some of ya :001_rolleyes:

Best to have the option of both backpack and handheld though - we use both all the time.

Reviving this thread to save making a new one. Can anybody tell me about the BG 66 blower? I am looking at getting the 86, but don't really need the leaf shredding capabilities, the 66 looks quiet, powerful and a touch cheaper?

EDIT: Also, would people really rate a backpack blower over a handheld? I have limited space in the back of my truck, and I like the convenience of a handheld, but a backpack blower with significantly more power sounds like it might speed up the clearup considerably.

EDIT 2: or is the blower for the Kombitool good? Since i am investing in a 100R soon too.

So many edits! Sorry
