Rope Wrench feedback

Recommended Posts

Hey Adam, really not trying to put a downer on your quest, just a question but do you think there will be much of a call for RW gear with the rope runner due for release soon.

Or will the rope wrench go on strong? Maybe a zk3?

It's all personal choice surely? I own many devices for srt and use them all across the year.

Absolutely, couldn't agree more. I also have more than one srt device and use them both for different occasions. Just curious as there's a lot of hype surrounding the RR and I'm sure a lot of people will be ditching the RW to buy the RR. I think it's great that Adams trialling and manufactured his own design and is Pursuing it, just wondered if he thought people will stick to the RW or move on. IMO a big part of the RW performance is in the tether, iv tried some awful ones and it's no wonder people say they can't get on with it (not the only reason) so if it's as good as believed then I look forward to purchasing it (my ABR stiffy ain't so stiff no more)

I think there will always be a place for the RW because many people prefer a hitch.

I haven't used the RR or Uni but it's easy to see the appeal of each in slightly different applications.

Bravo to the inventors of all these devices!

I briefly went out on a new setup yesterday.

The knot bit almost instantly when dropping my weight into if you were self tending but after ascending a few metres it wouldn't bite without setting the hitch?

Is there something I'm missing or is it just the result of a new set up until it beds in a little?

I wouldn't call it a quest jake. Far from it mate. Their are 40/50 people asking for the tether and I can't do anything about it. So it's time for someone else to take the reins. The wrench has and always will out sell any other SRT device. Why? As Al has said the hitch is something that climbers can relate to when changing a technique. It's easy it's smooth it's natural and it's adaptable.

The tethers themselves are not for my benefit I won't receive a penny from them. Just the legacy name and the pleasure of seeing other climbers use them across the globe :)

Bina looks a little cluttered with the pinto in place mate with fishermans anyway.

Give each leg on the Knut a push up to set it a little tighter. The half turn will meet up to the wraps close for a start then they will drop. But it will sort out your slipping mate

I've found that when people use the knut and it's not biting all the time, adding another wrap sorts it out. When tending the slack, the rope needs a bit more of a pull but your guaranteed it's going to bite.

Hi Bewarethemoon :) youve got your tether the wrong way on the wrench mate. The rubber gromet should be under the wrench on the other side of the attachment point. I find shortening my hitch cord length helps it bite down better :)
