Rope Wrench feedback

Recommended Posts

Welcome alex :001_tongue:

The first revelation moment for me was using the re-directs as new anchors, some right out on the tips which made crown reductions enjoyable.

Anyway a picture i just edited from todays 3 piece, balanced and capture COG rope. 3 hrs to lower off 2 30ft limbs and the remaining 25ft of timber. Not a big tree but i had a drop zone of around 2ft (1ft each side of the stem).

So drt i would of had 2 choices high anchor in the oak behind.... or srtwp, bomb a line through the oak behind and tie off to another then spike up and install a redirect anchor on the tree. Simple movement, not sure drt would of been able to deal with the movement out too (lots of over lapping branches).

So thinking about it a reckon drt would have cost me another 1hrs time. :thumbup1:

Cheers Ian!

Got it today, what struck me was how small it is! I've only seen dan's old zk1 in person last year and that was much more cumbersome.

Poor old thing is retired now, too many hi velocity redirects and drop testing. It was a fine tool in its time!

I've just received my ZK2 and stiff tether.

The tether has a rubber grommet in one of the eyes (optional) so it can sit really tightly on the lower pin of the wrench. Is this a good idea?

Also, what's the least obtrusive way to attach the tether to my HC?

I normally just use it for ascent, so need it quickly detachable. Any pics would be great, life's too short to sort back through all the posts on this thread!

Lastly, any useful tips on getting the pantin to tend low down? I normally have a 20 foot start off a ladder, but didn't today and struggled like buggery with my groundy engaged elsewhere.

Thanks.
