Dirty stunts pulled by customers

Whats dirty tricks have customers pulled to try to get a freebie from you?

Last week we had a little job to do pruning back an Ash tree which was overhanging some garages. I told our client we would do it 1st thing one morning and it would take a few hours. We had a call out that day so did not get there untill 1.30.

The garage belongs to another person. He called my client at 11 oclock to complain that we had broken the asbestos roof. I guess he was at work and thought we'd be done by then. Thing is we didnt even get there for 2 and a half hours after he had reported it. The roof was already broken and the facia boards all rotten and falling off. I think he was trying to get a new garage roof for free at my expense. What a peasant!

I had a Doctor as a customer many moons ago who hired me to perform some landscape work for him. He signed the work order form and the job was completed according to specs. When I submitted an invoice for said work order he told me he did not have to pay becuse he never authorized the work in the first place?. I advise him that it would be in his best intrest to pay the invoice and that I would be happy to provide a copie of the job work order as well. I told him I would be over in 15 Min's and when I arrived I rang the door bell and the door opened and a check was thrown in my face the door was closed shortly there after. I left a copie of the work order on his Welcome matt, "That was a Joke" and quickley cashed his check. Moral of the story, Always have your customers sign off on a work order before you start any job and have extra copies available at a moments notice if need be.

It's your money and when they try to out right take it away from you be prepared to take action.

I lost £200 off a £750 job once cos the customer said I'd stained the patio with chestnut rings that were stacked on it. He had a point but refused to let me clean it and said he'd do it himself....:sneaky2:

I was supposed to grind the stump for extra but told him to shove it. Anyhow I later found out that he'd hired a pedestrian grinder to do it himself and had put a stone through his patio doors....:laugh1:Sucker.

Christ knows mate, I know it stains but it is removable with citrus based products.

well if he docked £200 for that - then he deserved the stone through the window

These guys - you only meet them occasionally but when you do they leave a bad taste. I can't work out what makes them tick- must have been bullied when younger gets my vote
