An elderly british gentleman of 83 arrived in Paris by plane, at the French customs he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry bag, "you have been to Paris before monsieur?" the customs officer asked sarcastically, the elderly gentleman admitted he had been to France previously, "then you should know enough to `ave your passport ready" the customs officer said. The elderly gent replied "the last time i was here i didnt have to show it". "impossible! the British always have to show their passports on arrival in France!" The man gave the Frenchman a long hard look, then he quietly explained "well when i came ashore on the beach on D-Day in 1944 i couldnt find any bl**dy Frenchmen to show it too...! Wear your poppy with pride.

We could hear the cannon fire from nearby towns.

We had a two minute silence in the middle of the main drive on Friday. Even the birds stopped flying and making noise. The keeper called stop at 5 to then blew the hunting horn at 11. I've got a few friends serving in Afghan at the moment and lost 2 good friends during the fighting.

Sorry to say that I was plastering a wall on friday, and we had no radio on and no watch, hands too filthy to pick up the phone and look. My mate said at about 11.05 oops what time is it?? We missed it.:blushing:

We missed 11.11 yesterday (realised I hadn't heard my phone alarm set for 11.09), and agreed to hold our own silences separately.

My little bro arrived in the Afghan yesterday.

4th time for him.
