40% of UK export is to the Eurozone, a collapse would be an un-mitigated disaster.

Personally I think they will shore it up but at the cost of a pre-longed double dip recession.

Cheap holidays to greece . Since they dropped the drachmar the prices have been controlled by the eu. Just hope world war three does not break out when some nations that were more wealthy fail to get their dosh back.

It won't fall.

Thats just Daily Wail thinking.

France has a strong economy, people are still spending but mostly their own money as banks here have never been reckless lending to the feckless.

Since the fall of Iceland, did any-one see any cheap holidays there...? NO.

A collapsed economy doesn't always mean that commodities become cheap.

Things still cost the same, milk, coffee, electric, fuel etc.

the german economy will keep the euro afloat....as far i can make out if all the countries revert to their old currency the deutchmark would be 20% higher and would be make german industries uncompetitive when exporting

IMO the impact will be mainly felt by the countries holding the most debt like France/Germany. If the UK is holding any Euro debt that will have to be written off or absorbed somehow by the UK economy. The fact that the UK had enough Guts and Brains to not get suckered into giving up the Pound is the biggest reason why The UK will fare much better than all other nations that were willing to sell them selfs off for a Union not base on any sound monetary policy.
