but all dealers should pay Stihl vaguely the same price for stock, just because they are the only Stihl dealer in the local area why should I pay sometimes 20% more for something I can have delivered to my door, ordered anytime of the day?

My local dealer stocks plenty of Oregon bars and chains which they sell well and always recommend to put on my Stihl saws. No thanks.

whats up wi oregon stuff ,or have i missed tha point :001_huh:

I just feel sorry for the likes of jonesie etc who are abiding by the policy and they are being undercut by those who don't on ebay.

But like many others I am guilty of buying stihl parts on ebay as their price and availability knocks spots off the local dealer.

This posting sums it all up in a nutshell

Don't feel sorry for the likes of Jonsie, he was part of the pile it high sell it cheap internet selling brigade that forced Stihl to implement this policy.

Don't feel sorry for yourself either, as you say you were after a cheap deal so you are as responsible as anyone else for the change in policy.

Stihls business model requires a dealer network, if the dealers cant compete they wont carry the minimum stock levels and may well jump ship altogether. You cant blame them for protecting their business.

I concur with this.

Even the dealers who were utterly useless and didn't stock even the most basic parts?

Clearly some dealers are better than others but the poorer ones wont get any better if they don't get any trade, no incentive to improve.

Now that Stihl have implemented this condition they need to make sure the dealers are providing good service

In the same way that the dealers kind of had Stihl over a barrel threatening to dump a dealership Stihl have the ability to dump dealers.

So you are saying I am wrong and Jones weren't part of the pile it high sell it cheap gang?????

I am aware that its a global business policy, it has to be since Stihl use the same business model worldwide but it matters not how widespread the policy is, its the dealers offering heavily discounted goods on the internet that created the situation
