I would of thought it is worth investing in some stihl piston rings and circlips  at the very least. They are cheap and you are buying the best quality product available?

Mostly as it's a husqvarna copy? Haha. Yeah, I'm happy with ordering genuine parts, but not too sure what to order to fit the 52mm big bore kit. Would the rings from the 375k concrete cutter be correct?

You will need to match the depth, height and diameter of the ring for it to fit. The depth is dictated by the depth of the groove in the piston. The height is the vertical height of the groove of the piston and the diameter is self explanatory.

If you meet these, it will fit. Finding out the info is the hardest part but am sure other rings will fit your piston. The aftermarket rings can be a bit hard and brittle, the circlips can also be pretty crap!

Thanks. I guess my best bet is to wait for it to arrive and then measure the rings that come with the piston, then order some that match.

A Jonsered 2045 that drips oil everywhere. I'm going to replace the rubber oil guide and see if that makes a difference.

That will teach me to read posts properly. No clue about the concrete cutter sorry as the parts list doesnt give the dimensions of the ring, piston etc.

McCulloch PM370, that runs but is not pumping oil, it's not a modern worm driven pump but one in the bottom of the oil tank. Not sure what drives it yet, or even if it's repairable. Runs ok for a 30+ year old saw!

Generally I dont bother unless a saw is playing up. Keep a spare couple in the truck!

Change the 10mm ones far more often than 14mm ones as they seem to fail more often. I tend to replace if the plug is playing up or the aluminium connector thread has gone.
