i'd pursue them with legal action first and if that does'nt work sell the debt to a debt collector ( if thats an available option where you are)then walk a way and forget it.

 

i always offer the client the woodchips/timber during the quote and say "your welcome to the chips/logs if you want but if you dont want them once they are off the property they become mine"

 

usually stops any form of confusion

I'd put a paper bag full of fresh dog crap on the neighbours doorstep, set alight to it, ring the bell and run.

 

The sight of him stamping the flames out and getting dog mess all over his slippers will make up for your hassle.
