I met a German couple in Nicaragua driving something very similar to that. They had a motorbike strapped to one.side and a boat on the other. They were 4 years into a round the world trip

Here's mine, I need to get some decent shots done of it at some time.

I used a zig unit for the electrics but wouldn't use one again, you might want to have a look on the Self build motor caravan club to get a look at some builds

Been toying with the idea of a demount for a while but reckon it might have to be a self build.

 

There was one on ebay a little while back which included a mark 3 hilux and was only something like £2500, which I was tempted by.

Yes I built it, everything on the demountable market is too wide and too long to sit comfortably on the back of a euro size pickup imo.

They don't seem to make much money secondhand, but I think that is partly because they are too big, at least if you make it you can make it the right size, but it's probably cheaper to buy one already done.

I have been asked by a few people if I would consider taking it into production, but am still debating that one.

what sort of weight is it? Was the pop up roof hard to do to make watertight?

I got so fed up with it at one point I nearly sold it part built on ebay

Now it's done I am quite pleased with how it has turned out, but the next one will be in completely different materials.

All up weight is about 650kg, the roof was pretty easy to make watertight but I done some alterations to it that isn't shown in those pics, all the roof panels now interlock, meaning it can't collapse and also making it completely watertight.

Now I know what's involved I am quite happy to do another one (on a landy 130)
