I don't doubt that teachers work hard, but I fail to see why I should subsidize their pensions.

The public sector has been underpaying their pension plans for years, all the government is doing is asking them to pay in the propper amount.

When I retire I'll get my state pension + my private pension, whatever that is. Teachers get state + private and then the taxpayer makes up any shortfall.

It's not fair. Simples

Massive holidays, yeah right! My mrs is a teacher and works every night of the week doing lesson plans, marking etc, weekends she usually does marking for a few hours. Holidays well there is also work to be done then. If you add all her hours up in regard to her salary she ain't on that good a wage. People think they have it easy but that ain't the case.

Well said Hodge, my mrs works for the local water company and i subbed in to them for many years which was a good number but in the last year or so we saw many lads laid off due to lack of work, would you believe it the same company are now looking at setting on more lads than they laid off in the same role as the ones they laid off but without the perks that the original lads had.

the sad fact is...theres no dosh left in the kitty...the only thing to do is bite the bullet. We're all having to do it, going on strike will just make us all bite the bullet a bit harder for a bit longer.

You may be right but thats not the fault of the working classes its the fault of past and present governments....so why should the employed working class pay for their mistakes.

Untill you or your own have been on the recieving end of these sort of cuts you will never understand WHY people would need to strike.

Bugger, I was hoping for a second it was us tree workers going on strike, well gutted now!

I'm up for it if you are Barrington!

We just need to find someone with Arbtalks worst haircut to be our Arthur Scarghill-like leader.

For what it's worth, teachers don't have the easy 9-3 job with 12 weeks holiday that some seem to think they do. Especially with young Lorry Thompsons about!
