size of cord and length is a bit irrelevant as its good alround loop knot and ties well in most ropes, its especialy good on the marlow bull ropes I prefer a splice for my climbing terminations but know loads who climb with it, makes a good sliding loop knot (running bowline) for light rigging ( I prefer slings)

 

and great for hanging up the ropes at the end of the day!

probably get shot down for this but i dont like it,

 

too complicated to tie, and can be hard to undo, i use an anglers loop instead

 

If you push the loop up at the back it comes straight open. Not shooting you down tho bud climb on what's best for you I think, I hate those spliced ropes most love em:)

I use this for everything!, tying on, rigging, as a running bowline. It only loses 30% of the ropes strength, is easy to tie, can be tied one handed (with practice!) and is easy to remember!

use them all them ,think it was the 1,st knott mi late dad showed me,

 

use them for all sorts ,lorry get a rope we an eye in :sneaky2:
