Hi guys. Might sound a bit of a bone question but just looking to start buying more gear and wondered what you would say was essential. Ive allready got trousers and helmet pluss a small sthil 14inch bar I think. I'm in the proces of sorting out my cs30/31. Any help on what I need?

most places have all the kit for you to use mate so i wouldnt worry,, im doing mine this week and tomos is my last day,,, infact il post up some pics in abit, if ur buying kit u also need a forestry tape measure and pair of tongs or a pulp hook

Bit of 13mm rope made into a turning strop

What is a turning strop and how is it used?

 

It's an old school method of dealing with hang ups. You wrap the strop around the tree (you can even dog it in with a pulp hook) the you use a bit of wood as a leaver to role the tree. Doesn't work on big stuff but its ace on smaller stuff saves lugging a bar around all day.

the hse requirements are now that any one under training or a beginer must have chainsaw gloves

I've just got a pair of the new shiney Arbortec gloves. They're well made and they've got nice AV pads in them too. Very nice fit too.
