Has anyone else tried one

Personally I think they are very good just a bit too much money

We've got a couple of them in our store. It saves quite a bit of time as it sharpens the chain and reduces the depth gauges at the same time. Very nice bit of kit but as you say just a bit steep on the price.

The pferd ones are pretty much identical but are £38-00 + vat.

So the Stihl ones are better value. I've used the pferd ones for the last 6 months. They do a great job...

.... but one thing is you need to buy a seperate set up for each size chain i.e. you can't just put different size files into one and use that you need the one for 3/8 chain and a seperate one for .325 etc.

But still an excellent tool

I like the idea of the chain always being set up properly rather than just doing the rakers once in a while. This is one of those things that will either be brilliant or useless and just sit at the bottom of the toolbox having been used once.

That took them a while to bring to market. I showed the stihl UK product development guy a Pferd file system about 4 years ago. Her had never seen one before. I have to say if it performs as well it is well worth the investment. I will be buying a couple.
