if it goes up to £400 without any further improvement then definitely

I hope BASC, SGA etc drown the police in FOI requests about KPIs. Or just drown them.

Majority of police budgets go to pay the pensions of ex police. Twenty five years in gets full pension for the next 60 years, unless anything has changed.

Maybe they should go and nick some pikeys when they’re told there’s £10,000’s worth of freshly nicked gear in their camps then.

Or pull the pricks when they’ve got a 2t digger on the back of a Transit towing a 5t trailer.

Too much like hard work?

OK, let’s target the people who have already proven they’re law-abiding.

Easy money!

Just for interest and because I was talking about it with him this morning, my mate in Lithuania passed a shooting test last week, a written exam this morning and now has a 30 day wait for a cabinet and criminal record check. He seemed specific about the 30 days so I assume they have to get to it in that time. After that he can buy and carry as many pistols as he wants and buy and keep in his house as many shotguns as he wants. That's for self defence. Hunting is a slightly different system I think.

Far too much to do in my opinion but like buying crisps from a vending machine compared to the UK.

I don't have guns but am curious what the costs were before?

Second question, have they been increased year after year or is this the first increase in ages?

The figures above sound a lot for a check that the doctors note is valid, a quick call and some paperwork... but were they a lot last time the prices were increased too?

£92 for combined shotgun and firearm grant and £26 for a firearm variation from memory. Has gone up once in the eighteen or nineteen years I've been licensed.

Don't for a ****************ing second try to justify it with inflation. That's their fault too.

Thanks. About doubled? That's a huge jump.

Good old labour had promised to make it £400 if elected as apparently that’s what police say it’s costing them to process each licence..  so it’s a better result than I thought would happen, although no one else seems to agree 😂

Loads of people agree with you. 1000 parliamentarians, 6,200,000 million public sector employees, let's say another 10,000,000 of their dependents, anyone invested in the success of supermarkets etc etc. They all want you to be gradually pushed to be unable to meet your own needs for nourishment and security. Or not gradually. Scum.

Whilst I agree with your sentiment especially re security, this isn’t America with tons of public land anyone can take a rifle or bow on to hunt.

let’s be realistic, any form of legal ‘feeding yourself from hunting’ in this country requires more than a small degree of privilege- either paying for shooting rights or being chummy enough with large landowners.
