You know the prices of such stuff Mike, Edgar Bros are a huge outfit/importer and no doubt will have made a good few quid, why they could not be procured direct is beyond me.

What will be interesting is the sniper rifle replacement trials that has been talked about.

I think they buy those direct from accuracy international, supposedly they were getting laughed at by other forces.

Which seemed dumb as I'm betting the AI ones still shot the pants off whatever the others use.

Atleast the old SA80 MK3 was mostly UK made before Enfield closed.

That Sig just looks like a stoner AR clone

SA80 was made by HK in the end I think?

The Sig is decent,I fired one years ago when piston driven AR variants were all the rage. AR15s are possibly the world's most researched and developed Rifle in history at this point in time.

I bet the Generals were getting regularly fellated by HK since they already had a foot in the door. But the 416 is mentally expensive in comparison to any other platform I know of. It's a loverly gun and should be for the price, however apart from the cool factor it's still just another piston driven AR.

Because honestly they probably don't have the expertise. Dealing with an importer/ retailer is probably the best route, always along the line someone will be getting a slice. Retired top brass don't spend all their time on the grouse Moor and golf course

Not got access to the pics but, Rimington 11-87, beretta Xtrema 2, beretta 686, 2x tikka in 6.5x55 and. 222 both sharing wildcat mods and night force and meopta optics, my rimfire eventually got too inaccurate so was chopped and I did have a 10 for a while but the Xtrema is better and lighter. Always fancied getting Alan Myers to make me a semi 8 bore but hevi shot etc made 8's etc just lovely curiosity pieces.

British forces currently hold 125,276 SA80 A2 rifles (L85A2) and 40,144 SA80 A3 rifles (L85A3).

I think we can safely say the SA80 won't be going anywhere for a good while.

Rifle Model            Total Held

L85A2 (SA80 A2) 125,276

L85A3 (SA80 A3) 40,144

L403A1 (AIW / KS-1) 1,620

If anyone wants to know how good Leupold rifle guarantee is, answer is great. Had a problem with fogging of scope so emailed Viking arms  and they said send it to them to get it sent back to America, took 10 weeks. Scope was returned Monday and basically rebuilt whole scope free of charge.

Recently bought a Daystate Red Wolf electronic  pre charged . A work of art . Any way last night it fell off the bench rest ( I was talking to someone with my back to it ) . The impact broke the handle of the cocking lever and this saved the scope and everything else from damage . It still worked absolutely fine ( you can still operate the the cocking lever just no downward handle ) . The zero was still cock on at 25yds . Testament to build quality I would say .
