thats not even the same tree, look to the right of the tree in the first pic (which has been taken from google street view!) there is a kerb and pavement being put in there, in the second pic, theres still grass!

 

look also in the second pic at that huge root sticking out, look at the same place on the first pic, oh look, no root!

 

Upon searching for this tree in chilton, there is no street view available in chorlton!

15 years ago I got permission to pollard a weeping willow in a back garden near some 132kv lines. No site visit required (the guy would not meet me) so we cracked on!. He was livid to see this willow stem rising out of his lawn. He threatened legal action etc but I promised him that at the end of the next spring I would pay him suitable compensation if he wasn't happy. Needless to say he asked us back to do a crown thin and lift(?) as it was restricting his view of the fields, limiting the light into his house and he like his lawn with grass instead of mud.

 

I refused because he had been extremely rude and I did not work for rude, ignorant school teachers!
